If you have an interest in being a plus size model, entertainer, fashion blogger, stylist, make-up artist or beauty expert, the October 21st Dream BIG Curvygirl Fashion and Beauty Conference had something for you! The Chicago based conference featured a model call and inspirational panels. There were informational sessions on marketing, branding, blogging and the entertainment industry.
A common theme in all of the panels was self-care and being true to one’s self. Panelists emphasized the importance of caring for one’s own physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Several panelists discussed the stress and burnout that can result from not doing so.
Collaboration was another key theme of the CurvyGirl Conference. Panelists talked about career successes that resulted from collaborations with colleagues. Meaghan O’Connor, celebrity stylist and lead stylist for Plvsh, recommended appreciating colleagues with handwritten thank you notes, birthday cards and other recognition of their life events. These small steps can lead the way to future collaborations.
The conference was marketed to Chicago and the Midwest, but panelists and attendees traveled from other parts of the country. Attendees received advice on marketing, branding and blogging. There were numerous opportunities to network with the panelists.
The CurvyGirl Conference was organized and founded by The Curvy Express CEO Natasha M. Williams. Natasha has a unique and amazing style, and under her leadership I am certain that the conference will continue to grow. I highly recommend this conference and look forward to it in 2018!
